Historically, Nigerian residential architecture has always paid homage to Iberian mediterranean villas. Recent trends however indicate a lean towards an all – white American West Coast aesthetic. Very little attempt is made to imbue commercial developments with regional accents. When we do, they are pastiche and token representations.
MacDonald Apartments seeks to countenance this position with a building type though alien to traditional Yoruba architecture (the high rise) is fundamentally hinged on strong cultural traditions.
